Alie de Vries from Harlingen (later Uitwellingerga), began her career singing in the Ladypops and Karina's (1974) and later joined a country band called Colt 45 (1976). Since 1978, she has been one-half of the popular Maywood duo (starring Karen & Alice). In 1990, they represented The Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Ik wil alles met je delen" and ended up in the 9th place.

This country band from Woerden garnered acclaim playing as a support act for Buck Owens. However, they folded rather quickly (1978). The line-up included: Ries van Oostrom, Frans de Bruin (g, to Winchester), Alice and Karin May (v, ex-Karina's, later in Maywood), Harry de Vroege (v, g, to Smith & Early and solo as Harry Laurens) and Henk Smit (also to Smith & Early). In 1980 Harry formed a duo called Sterling.
