MAILBAG

The band Mailbag from Utrecht was formed in 1973 under the name of Hawks. The line-up was Hans Kosterman (v, g, to Braak), Dolf Koch (g, to Braak), Han Bavink (v, g, ex-Rhythms and Wondering Creek, to Carlsberg), Rein Winkel (dr, ex-Forest Hill and Wondering Creek, to Bronco) and Jeanne van Berkel (v). After Jeanne left, Mailbag backed Cherry van Gelder Smith until 1975.

Singer Hetty Smit from Amsterdam. She was backed by Cardinal Point at first (1972), later by Album (1973), Mailbag (1974) and Cherie (1975). In 1981 she was seen performing again, now with the Heavy Smith Band.

ALBUM

The group from Amsterdam that came to prominence in 1979. They were working on an LP that wouldn't get published due to guitarist Ron Meyes leaving for Earth & Fire. The line-up in 1973 was: Paul Guldenaar (v, ex-Blue Rhythms, to Sacha & Paul), Ron Meyes (g, ex-Brainbox, to Temple), Ben Vermeulen (o, p, ex-Xex, to Maggie MacNeal), Harry Heeren (dr, ex-Breakaway, to Neerlands Hoop and replaced by Theo de Ruiter, ex-Johnny Kendall), Fred Jansen (v, g, ex-Granny's Lovers, to Mayflower) and Wim Feddema (b).

1974: Paul, Wim, Jan Vos (g, ex-Cinderella, to Hickory) and Ger Suring (dr, ex-Mayflower). This lineup was kept until 1976, when they changed their name to Express for a short while and Fred Lusken (o, p, ex-Telephone) was added.

1979: Paul, Wim, Ron Meyes (g, ex-Knack and Innerminit, to Earth & Fire), Ben Vermeulen (o, p, ex-Lobster and Tennis, to Match) and Theo van Adrichem (dr, ex-Johnny Kendall, to Beauty Case).

CARDINAL POINT

Cardinal Point was formed in 1964 in Sicily, originally under the name of I Cardinali. In 1966, under the leadership of their blind organist, they came to The Netherlands and settled in Alkmaar, touring the Noordholland pop club circuit extensively. The line-up was: Mario Previti (v, o), Nino Venuto (v, g, in 1977-78 in the Vips), Pierro Aspria (b, ex-Masters) and Arnaldo Gallie (dr, ex-Masters, in 1977 to Jackpot). The fifth member, Franco Puglisi, returned to Italy in 1967.
