Founded in 1974, instrumental, symphonic rock group featuring Cees Meerman (dr, ex-Smyle, to Herman Brood), Eugene den Hoed (g,fl, ex-Clover Leaf), Kees den Hoed (b) and Frank Witte (o,p,fl). After just one LP, the group disbanded.

Guitarist Jack Jackson, aka Jack Verburgt, from Noordbrabant, was active in the sixties as the bassist in Clover Leaf.

LOTUSLAND

This group from Tilburg was founded in 1966 under the name of Gogo's. In 1967, the name was changed to Lotusland. The most important members were Marcel Lahaye (v,o,p, to Clover Leaf), Martin Oppermans (v,g) and in the last days of the group Ferdy Lancee (v,g). From 1968 till 1972, Lotusland accompanied Bonny St.Claire, a Belgian duo Barry & Eileen around 1975, and Ben Cramer and Patricia Paay around 1977. Their lone single, recorded in 1968, was done together with the English group Marmalade, whom they met during Bonny St.Claire's English tour that year.

Hans Willemse (v, to Bojo Band), Aad van de Kreeft (g, ex-Think Tank, later in Lava), Andre Reynen (b, ex-Brainbox, to Sympathy, also in Minisink Townhouse), Ilja Gort (dr, ex-After Tea, also in Minisink Townhouse), Paul Vink (o,p, ex-Machine, to Lynx) and Joop van Nimwegen (g, ex-Cobra, to Q'65). This group existed from 1972 till 1974, in the end under the name of Daybreak.

Funk-rock group from The Hague, established in 1979. Line-up: Hans Willemse (v,g,b, ex-Twelve O'Clock, Daybreak with Astrid Nijgh and a duo with Bart van Schoonhoven of Breeze), Peter Simon (g, ex-Crimson Circle, New Crim Formation and Gails & Jeans), Geert Hoornweg (v,dr, ex-Placenta, Dizzy Daisy and Steamer), Bob Blok (v,b, ex-Crashfield Band and Randy & Spiders), Astrid Blok (v, ex-Kobalt and Colour) and (only in 1979) Johan Flippo (g, ex-Sfinx and Steamer).

SFINX

Symphonic rock group from The Hague, founded in 1974 by John Philippo (v,g,p,s, ex-Pilot, to Bojo Band) and Peter Langerak (g). On bass, successively, Dennis Lammers (in 1975 to Lemming), Armand v.d. Hoff (ex-Eclipse, from 1975 till 1978) and Ruud v.d. Tang. On keyboards, successively, Michael Eschauzier (ex-Catapult, till 1976), Kees Nix (ex-Boolus and Stardust, from 1976 till 1979) and Dolf Lampo (since 1979). Drummers were Hans Adelaar (in 1976 to Cobra) and Harm Bieger (since 1976, ex-Fontessa, in 1980 to Mo).

LYNX

A group from The Hague, existed from 1972 till 1973. Their single was recorded but not released. Line-up: Peter v.d. Sande (v,b, ex-Serpentine, to Lobster), Frank Nuyens (v,g, ex-Q'65, to Cuby & Blizzards), Paul Vink (o,p, ex-Twelve O'Clock, to Finch) and Dick Beekman (dr, ex-Livin' Blues, to Terry Lee & Big Rock Revival).

MARVA HODGE & MOODY SECT

A soul singer hailing from The Hague, originally from Aruba. She was mostly accompanied by the The Hague group Moody Sect: Ab Engels (dr), Adolphus Richardson (tr), Jan Benjamin (s), Robert Plazier (o, ex-Tee Set, to Nico Haak & Paniekzaaiers), Wan Leue (v,g, ex-Crack Unit, to Confrontation), Will Matla (g, to Sympathy), Dick Hoppe (b, ex-Black Albinos) and Linda Melcherts (v). Also Ton van der Meer (g, ex-Mack, to Smyle) played along for a short while, while on her last single Ted Oberg (Livin' Blues) played guitar. Earlier, Marva sang in Stax. In 1970, she went back to Aruba.

Ton van der Meer is not the same person as bass player Ton van der Meer who played in SmyleGestoordt sang in Dutch, the line-up being: Godi van Hoogezand (g), Bertus Bonk (b) and Alex Verpoort (dr). In 1981 the group's name was changed into: Ton van der Meer + Lach & Roll.

MACK

The Hague-based group featuring Ton van der Meer (g, ex-Danny & Rebels, later to the Moody Sect), Bart Terlaak (dr, ex-Willy & Giants, later to the Haigs) and Leo Bennink (b, ex-Jayjays, replaced by, respectively, Paul van Melzen (Haigs) and Huib Verstrate (Beehive). Leo left Mack in 1967 to join the Motions.

FERDY LANCEE

Ferdy Dousenbach started his career as a musician in Lotusland and also as a studio session guitarist. He was dubbed the Dutch Peter Frampton due to his looks as well as his musical style. In 1976, he was in Dummy, in 1978 in Xandra (the group featuring Sandra) and in 1979 formed - together with Frank Klunhaar - his own group called Lancee. Frank was earlier a Panther(man). The rest of the line-up: Marcel Lahaye (o,p, ex-Clover Leaf, till 1980, replaced by guitarist Leon v.d. Akker), Jos v.d. Dries (dr, ex-Les Cruches) and Pieter Korremans (b, ex-Heating). In 1981, Lancee disbanded and Ferdy formed a new band: Jos v.d. Dries (dr), Joe Heuser (o,p, ex-Breakfast, Caro and a few more Dutch bands) and Steven Wienjus (b, ex-Superjones).

WITCH CONCERN

A heavy rock group from Nijmegen, existed around 1969/1970. This group didn't make any records, but they had a remarkable line-up: Jimi Silawanebassy (v, better known as soul singer Jimmy Bellmartin), Frank Klunhaar (o,p, to Pantherman), Pierre de Haard (dr, to Corporation), Benno Buys (g) and Ton Rossen (b, to Sessie Bon).

CHAIN OF FOOLS

In 1976, a group called Stardust was founded by Rudi de Queljoe (g, ex-Cyril Havermans), Herman Deinum (b, ex-Cyril Havermans), Hans Lafaille (dr, ex-Flash & Dance Band), Cees Nix (o,p, ex-Boolus, to Sfinx) and Jimmy Belmartin (v). Just after a few weeks, Herman and Hans left for Sweet d'Buster and only Rudy and Jimmy remained. They completed the line-up with Hessel de Vries (o,p, ex-Sight), the English drummer Ian Mosley (ex-Trace, to Gordon Giltrap), Jaap van Eyck (b, ex-Trace, replaced by Toeroe Leerdam in 1976, to Vitesse) and female singers Floor van Zutphen (Houseband) and Sheen Mulholland. After the recording sessions, the group fell apart. Rudi, Ian and Hessel then formed jazz-rock group Footswitch.

This 'supergroup' had a short life in 1977: Hessel de Vries (keyboards, ex-Chain Of Fools), Rudy de Queljoe (g, ex-Chain Of Fools, to Vitesse), Ian Mosley (dr, ex-Chain Of Fools) and Toeroe Leerdam (b, ex-Chain Of Fools, to Vitesse).
